The late maestro, Frà Professor Richard Divall AO OBE, was a major presence in Australian classical music for over 35 years. Renowned for his conducting, Richard was also a respected musicologist with a particular passion for Australian music. Richard had a wide-ranging academic career spanning the University of Melbourne, Monash University, University of Malta and King’s College London. He was also a fellow of Queen’s College and a member of the Senior Common Room at Newman College. Richard was a passionate supporter of the Australian String Quartet (ASQ) and a much-loved presence at its festivals where his learned and entertaining introductions to performances were most popular and will be missed.

In honour of Richard’s support of the ASQ and in recognition of his extraordinary contribution to Australian music, we have launched The ASQ Richard Divall Australian Music Fund. Money raised will directly support the ASQ to commission, research, preserve, record and perform Australian music both here and abroad.

I invite you to help us realise Richard’s vision and continue his legacy by donating to this very special Fund. Simply click below to download a donation form or speak to Michelle Richards on 0413 212 040.
