A Day with the Australian String Quartet at the Elder Conservatorium of Music
Imagine playing alongside the Australian String Quartet in concert!
In partnership with the Elder Conservatorium of Music, University of Adelaide, selected SA Secondary School students will have the opportunity to join the ASQ at its own home base for a day of workshops and rehearsals, ending in a public concert in the Elder Hall Evening Concert Series. This is a unique opportunity to learn advanced technical and performance skills from the ASQ, Ensemble in Residence at the Elder Conservatorium of Music, and enjoy playing a diverse selection of chamber orchestra repertoire in the magnificent Elder Hall.
For over 30 years, the Australian String Quartet has created unforgettable chamber music experiences for national and international audiences. It is deeply committed to education and to fostering a love of chamber music in the younger generation. The quartet members are Dale Barltrop (violin), Francesca Hiew (violin), Stephen King (viola) and Sharon Grigoryan (cello).
The ASQ will perform alongside the students in repertoire that will include selections from:
Bartók, Romanian Dances
Corelli, Christmas Concerto
Dag Wiren, Serenade
Grieg, Holberg Suite
The ASQ will also perform a work at this concert.
Sessions will run from 10am – 5:30pm, followed by a public concert in Elder Hall at 6:30pm. Please note that participants are required to attend the full day of activities. Lunch and dinner will be provided.
