Australian String Quartet in Helsinki-Finland

From famous classical halls to a mega Festival club, we can’t wait to unite with friends, audiences and collaborators old and new across a jam-packed couple of weeks of outings in Helsinki, Finland and London and Oxford, England! Check out some highlights below and please come and say G’day if you’re in the region!

ASQ AT HELSINKI FESTIVAL

We are thrilled to join Sydney Dance Company once again to perform a four-show season of the smash-hit dance collaboration Impermanence by Rafael Bonachela! Due to high demand an extra show has been added, and we can’t wait to share this exquisite work with Finnish audiences.

What makes this trip extra special is a one-night-only show at the 1400-seat Festival club Huvila, featuring Australian String Quartet in concert with composer, songwriter, musician and front-man of indie band The National, Bryce Dessner, along with cellist Anastasia Kobekina and GRAMMY award-winning mezzo, Fleur Barron.

We can’t wait to finally share the stage with Bryce, performing an array of his works for string quartet and small ensemble.

An evening with Bryce Dessner and ASQ —27 Aug
Impermanence—28-30 Aug

ASQ IN the uk

Including a London-based series of bespoke and diplomatic events early in the week celebrating our 40th Anniversary year, our time in the UK is highlighted by concerts at two renowned yet very contrasting venues.

Built in the early 1700’s, London’s St Martin-in-the-Fields is a bucket-list venue for any chamber group and we are thrilled to be performing Beethoven’s monumental Opus 127 there, as well as I. Nimrod from Caroline Shaw’s exquisite Three Essays.

Later we take a short trip to the university town of Oxford to perform at the modern and intimate Jacqueline du Pré Music Building as part of Music at Oxford’s renowned series. There, we perform Australian composer Justin Williams’ dashing Movement for String Quartet, Fanny Hensel’s incredible String Quartet in E-flat major and Erich Korngold’s magnificent String Quartet No.2, Op.26
