TRAVERSE TIME AND PLACE IN AN EVENING OF EXQUISITE MUSIC FEATURING AWARD-WINNING CLARINETTIST ASHLEY SMITH
For this compelling program we are joined by outstanding Australian clarinettist, Dr Ashley Smith, for an uplifting performance of Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Quintet in A Major, K.581. Written in 1789 for the famous Austrian clarinettist, Anton Stadler, this radiant work is full of light and virtuosity and remains as one of the composer’s most celebrated works.
From the fugal sounds of Neapolitan baroque to the homogenous harmonies of mid-twentieth century London, join us as we delve into the distinct sound-worlds of Alessandro Scarlatti and Benjamin Britten.
