“Paterson’s new work proved a revelation – attractive tonal music that seems to spill off the page – with its four movements providing a Bartokian folksy opening, a lushly melodic adagio, a scurrying toccata and quirky fugue and finale with plenty of low-down grunt.”—Limelight, Feb 2022

After receiving its World Premiere performances on our first national tour of 2022, we are pleased to bring David Paterson’s String Quartet No.1 to audiences at UKARIA. The second work on the program comes from the famed set of quartets that make up Joseph Haydn’s Op.76. Considered the father of the string quartet, this work is considered one of the great examples of the genre.
